A New Way to Play: Utilizing Gaming for Social Skills
This presentation will cover the use of table top role playing games in a therapeutic setting. In a therapeutic setting, the therapist takes on the role of running the game, while participants select and play characters in a safe setting. The games are designed to encourage participants to develop social skills, such as problem solving, conflict resolution, perspective taking, collaboration, anger management, social anxiety, and impulse control. The therapist is able to challenge participants in areas that they need help, and can work with participants to process discoveries made during each session. This method is more engaging than traditional talk therapy, and allows participants to actively practice coping skills in a safe space.

The Other Side of the Screen
Does your game need a little something extra to speed up the flow of events, or maybe you need some better organization options but don't want to shell out thousands of dollars for a fancy gaming table? We'll be taking a look at cheap and DIY options for RPG game masters who might like a little bit more than just a pen and paper to work with at their table with a focus on physical items at the table (digital options would fill it's own presentation).

MahJong House - Round Two
The Castles are back! We previously presented a post-mortem on our first indie game, MahJong House. We are now back to discuss our current game project: a rebuilding of our mahjong solitaire game. Using all the things we've learned from that first round, we're coding it from the ground up all over again.

We'll be showing of the new version, talking about what we've changed both in the game itself and in the programming process, and as always discussing trials and tribulations of being independent creators.

great western trail
America in the 19th century: You are a rancher and repeatedly herd your cattle from Texas to Kansas City, where you send them off by train. This earns you money and victory points. Needless to say, each time you arrive in Kansas City, you want to have your most valuable cattle in tow. However, the "Great Western Trail" not only requires that you keep your herd in good shape, but also that you wisely use the various buildings along the trail. Also, it might be a good idea to hire capable staff: cowboys to improve your herd, craftsmen to build your very own buildings, or engineers for the important railroad line.
