Regular Expressions (regex) are a powerful pattern matching tool you can use to supercharge find-and-replace. You can use it to find all the email addresses on a page, extract dates, check password strength and so much more. While often used by programmers who appreciate their versatility and concision, Regex are useful for anyone who works with text -- regardless of whether you’re an author, a researcher, a student, or something else entirely. Best of all, regex are easy to learn -- “complex” searches are built out of the same handful of simple building blocks.
